The Elvis Costello show

At last, a talkshow host who is also a member of the New Wave canon! Elvis Costello is to be the host of a new, 13-part TV series produced by Elton John's Rocket Pictures. The UK-Canada co-production is called Spectacle: Elvis Costello With... As you might expect, it features Elvis Costello with... other people.

The show will include both musical performances and sit-down interviews between Costello and his favourite artists.

"I'm not interested in extracting some dark secret," Costello said in a news release. "I'd rather hear about a bright secret, a deep love or a curiosity that might be otherwise obscured by fame. This is a wonderful opportunity to talk in complete thoughts about music, movies, art or even vaudeville, then frame it with unique and illustrative performances."

Yes, Spectacle will be the talkshow that finally asks the important questions about vaudeville.

"[Elvis Costello is] the foremost expert on popular music," explained Elton John. "I thought it would be sensational to use his knowledge and intelligence to explore the artistry of musicians and other fascinating people involved in making great music, as well as true music aficionados."

The series is to be broadcast this fall on Channel 4 in the UK, CTV in Canada, and the Sundance Channel in the USA.

Bond's new film set to fly Virgin

James Bond loves Aston Martin cars and when it comes to even higher flying it now seems that Richard Branson's Virgin Atlantic is 007's airline of choice.
Virgin has announced that the airline will again feature in the new Bond film 'Quantum of Solace', starring Daniel Craig as 007.
"Virgin Atlantic and James Bond make a great partnership; slick, smooth and renowned the world over", said Branson.
The news follows the cameo appearance that Branson made in Craig's first outing as Bond in 'Casino Royale'. Virgin aircraft were also seen in that movie.
Virgin also announced that it would be a global partner for 'Quantum of Solace' and would be supporting the film's release with a series of promotional and marketing initiatives.
The Virgin Atlantic president added: "'Casino Royale' propelled Bond to greater success and we're certain that 'Quantum of Solace' will set an even higher standard."
Virgin's competitor British Airways cut out Branson and airbrushed the Virgin logo from the film when showing it on their in-flight entertainment system.
BA is later expected to comment on what their in-flight policy will be when the new Bond film comes out in November this year.

Rihanna - Rihannas Take A Bow Tops Singles Chart

Rihanna's Take a Bow is number one in the UK singles chart.

In a reversal of last week's chart, the US singer knocked the Ting Tings' single, That's Not My Names, off the top spot.

It wasn't all bad news for the Ting Tings though as they managed to displace Neil Diamond at the top of the album chart.

Former number one single Four Minutes by Madonna and featuring Justin Timberlake was a non-mover in this week's chart and was the third best selling song in the UK again.

Will.I.Am and Girls Aloud singer Cheryl Cole's song Heartbreaker charted at four this week.

While Sam Sparro's Black & Gold made up the top five.

Wiley's Wearing My Rolex charted at six in the chart and soul singer Duffy's new single Warwick Avenue was the seventh best selling single.

Usher's Love In This Club, September's Cry for You and Coldplay's Violet Hill made up the top ten.
